Karen Massey is an experienced Master Florist, a prestigious achievement and professional rarity in the Irish floral industry. This is underpinned by a vast array of national and international industry awards, commendations and academic qualifications.
A traditional bench trained florist, Karen began her floral journey at the age of 13 in her Aunts' shop 'Stems', in Deansgrange, Co. Dublin. Having 12 years of retail floristry experience, Karen opened Fleurtatious in 2007.
Fleurtatious quickly gained a reputation for delivering consistently high standards of floral design and techniques, sourcing high quality flowers and foliage, and providing value for money for their customers.
Karen believes in continuous professional development in order to provide unparalleled quality and designs to her customers. In doing so, Karen has become an internationally recognised leader in the floral industry.
Having pursued and completed City and Guilds professional qualifications, from Level 2 at Dungannon College in Tyrone; Level 3 at Cafre College in Antrim; and Level 4 and 5 at Moreton Morrell College Warwickshire, England.
Karen's floral journey demonstrates her skill and professionalism, including training with esteemed florists such as Laura Leong, Gregor Lersch, Tor Gundersen, and Joseph Massie, among others.
Karen has achieved numerous national and international industry awards, and recognitions for her floristry design skill, techniques and imagination. This includes commendations at the WorldSkills competitions, and highly coveted Silver medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2014 and Bronze medal in 2016.
Karen’s skill and dedication have been recognized internationally, with her floral designs winning a silver medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2014 and a bronze medal in 2016. She has been highly commended at the WorldSkills competition and continues her professional development, training with esteemed florists such as Laura Leong, Gregor Lersch, Tor Gundersen, and Joseph Massie, among others.
Karen is passionate about lifelong learning in floristry and believes that continuous development and sharing knowledge are essential to advancing the craft. Her expertise and dedication make her a valued member of the Institute of Flowers (IOF) board, where she is committed to inspiring florists and driving excellence in the industry.
